The reality is that some people often end up paying for another person’s mistakes. In fact, many lose their lives because of the errors other people make and this is often seen in car accidents. Unsuspecting motorists die far too often here in Florida and across the country when another driver fails to follow the rules of the road.
This point was sadly illustrated in a crash that occurred on a recent Sunday. A 48-year-old man was headed somewhere on County Road 437 with no idea that his life was about to end. Preliminary reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that another vehicle careened into his lane and slammed into his vehicle. Unfortunately, the man did not survive the crash. In fact, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
At last report, authorities were still investigating the crash. It is not yet known whether the other driver will face criminal charges in connection with the crash and the man’s death. More than likely, the deceased victim’s surviving family members will want to know why they lost their loved one. It could take some time for them to get the answers they need.
The family members of unsuspecting motorists who lose their lives in traffic accidents do not have to wait for the conclusion of the official investigation to pursue the justice and restitution they need. Florida law allows for the filing of wrongful death claims in civil court. The claims process can be quite complex, stressful and frustrating, however. It would make sense to work with an attorney with knowledge in this area of law in order to increase the chances of a successful outcome.
